RULES of COCTC 2025

THE MAINS

The MAINS consists of 50 events in which you select a team or individual for each event to forecast the winner at the start of the year. The MAINS selections (50) are due by 29th January 2025. You can enter the first20 MAINS due 29th January 2025 and the remaining 30 MAINS by 12th February 2025.

Once you submit your MAINS selections (after CUTOFF Time) they CAN'T be altered or replaced if your selection is a late scratching or injured player or team. A copy of everybody’s MAINS selections will be on view for all to see throughout the year.

All Major Golf Championships in COCTC 2025 you must choose 3 PLAYERS for each Tournament but you can ONLY CHOOSE THE SAME PLAYER TWICE.

All Tennis Majors (Men's & Women's) in COCTC 2025 you must choose 2 PLAYERS to make the FINAL but you can ONLY CHOOSE THE SAME PLAYER TWICE.

You're required to CHOOSE 2 Teams for Stanley Cup Ice Hockey, NBA Basketball, State Rugby League Championship and MLS Cup.

You're required to CHOOSE 4 Teams for MLB Baseball

THE ROUGHIES

The ROUGHIES consists of 50 events in which you select a team or individual for an event to forecast the winner at selected times during the year. The ROUGHIES selections are to be placed the day before the event starts by 9.00pm (EST). A full list of selections are available to view from 10.00am the following day.

During Daylight Saving Time NSW - 10.00pm, QLD - 9.00pm, VIC – 10.00pm
Selections placed after the due time will not count.

Dates that are listed are only a guide and may change.
ROUGHIES selection can be changed once submitted up until the deadline time of 9.00pm. If your racehorse is scratched after cutoff time, you'll be given the Sub Favorite as determined by Qld TAB
Please remember to place initials or full team name when more than 1 person or team occurs E.g. M or A Marquez LA Lakers or LA Clippers.

POINTS

Points will be based on: 

• 1st – 10 points
• 2nd – 6 points
• 3rd – 4 points
• 4th – 2 points

In the event of ties such as beaten semi finalists, points will be added together and divided by the number of participants tying.
E.g. 3rd = 4 pts + 4th = 2 pts = 6 pts divided by 2 tying teams = 3 pts each team.

1st Try Scorers – if player scorers more than 1 try, only the 1st try will count. e.g:

• 1st try – Tedesco = 10 pts
• 2nd try – Ponga = 6 pts
• 3rd try – Tedesco = NO pts
• 4th try – Cherry-Evans = 4 pts
• 5th try – Cook = 2 pts

Most Tries, Most Points, Most Goals, Most Runs, Most Wickets, includes all finals unless stated. AFL and NRL Most Goals, Points, Tries, Tackles and Disposals are ONLY FOR THE REGULAR SEASON

AFL and NRL Top 8 Teams – All 8 Teams Correct = 20pts, 7 Correct = 10pts , 6 Correct = 6pts, 5 Correct = 4pts, 4 Correct = 2pts

Events that require you to pick the 4 Semi-finalists. 4 correct = 10 points, 3 correct = 6 points, 2 correct = 4 points and 1 correct = 2 points. NO BONUS POINTS for this event 

Olympic Games Medal Tally is determind by the Total number of GOLD + SILVER + BRONZE Medals. No Bonus Points for this event. Correct Total = 10 points, 1 off = 6 Points, 2 off = 4 points, 3 off = 2 points

All Soccer Golden Boot Winner will be determined by Goals / Assists / Minutes Played as by UEFA website 

English Premier League 10th Place Finisher and Medal Tally – NO BONUS POINTS

Events with multi selections - If your 2 or 4 Teams or Players make the Semi Finals or Final multi points are available for those Teams or Players. Bonus Points are still available  (You could end up with 16 points)

BONUS POINTS – To encourage risk taking.

Double points will be awarded to teams if (see table below) choose the same team, individual or horse that is eligible for points. 

If you are the ONLY team to choose correctly a team, individual or horse, that is eligible for points. Points will be DOUBLED, plus an extra 5 points if that selection is the overall winner ONLY.

Number will be determine at the start of the year incase of dropouts.

• 50 or Less Teams Entered – 4 or less, 51 – 60 Teams Entered – 5 or less
• 61 – 70 Teams Entered – 6 or less, 71 – 80 Teams Entered – 7 or Less

PRIZE MONEY

Prize money will be given to the Top 5 entries, based upon results of 100 sporting events that are listed in COCTC 2024.

Prize amounts will be announced after final entries have paid. 

1st Place Prize will be roughly 50% of the total pool.

Quarterly Section Winners (after 25, 50, 75 and 100 events) 

Quarterly Sections will be the first 25 events to finish. Events can be both MAINS and ROUGHIES. The team that scores the most points will receive a cash prize of $100

Prize’s that have been donated or offered by companies are in good faith and COCTC and G.Forbes take no reasonability for non-payment or deliver of prizes. All effort will be made to insure prizes are honoured.

IN THE EVENT OF TIES: Highest MAINS score will determine the winner, if MAINS score is still tied, prize money will be added together and halved.

DISQUALIFICATIONS

If a team, individual, horse are disqualified or lose points from an event after the event has concluded, points will stand AS IS. The rule of “If the bookies have paid, CORRECT WEIGHT” will apply to all matters.

UPDATES AND REMINDERS

All effort will be made to have ROUGHIES selections placed on the website prior to the event starting. Updates will be made on the website as events finish. SELECTIONS DUE is placed on the website and COCTC REMINDERS will be emailed or SMS TEXT message will be sent out prior to event starting.

CANCELLED EVENTS and COCTC 2025 Finish

If an event is cancelled, a replacement event will be added. COCTC  will conclude around first or second week in December 2025 with NFL Best/Worst Record being the final event. If any events (WSL World Surfing Title) have not been decided by this date, the current stands at such time will stand.

ENTRY COSTS

Entry fee to the COCTC 2025 is $100 AUD, which is payable by 5th February 2025.

You can also direct debt to Qantas Staff Credit Union – BSB – 704865 Account No 7175572. Please place your TEAM NAME as reference number if possible. If you fail to pay by the deadline of 5th February 2025, your COCTC 2025 tips will not count.

REFERRALS

If you refer 5 or more new teams that haven’t played in COCTC before and they’re FULLY PAID by the payment deadline. You will receive your ENTRY FEE of $100 BACK. So make sure you tell your friends to mention who introduced them to COCTC. 

G.Forbes is responsible for policing of results and updating of points scores and will be the solo judge of all matters regarding COCTC 2024. If you have any problems regarding rules, selections or other matters, please direct your comments or insults to me.
